About the Jubilee Year
On January 10, 2026, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV declared a special Jubilee Year to honor the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, concluding on January 10, 2027 — coinciding with the closing of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025.
Eight centuries have passed since the death of the Poverello of Assisi — the beloved “poor little man” who wrote the word of Christ’s salvation indelibly in the hearts of the people of his time. His message of peace, charity, and harmony with all creation echoes with urgency in our world today.
The Diocese of San Bernardino invites all the faithful to participate in this special year by visiting designated Franciscan Jubilee Sites within our diocese, and to encounter the living spirit of the Seraphic Patriarch.

Of Grace & Indulgences
“In this age, marked by so many seemingly interminable wars, by internal and social divisions that create mistrust and fear, he continues to speak. Not because he offers technical solutions, but because his life points to the authentic source of peace.”
